LiquidCool Solutions CEO Herb Zien Asks “Is Free Cooling Really Free?” at Emerging Green Conference -- In his presentation, Zien challenges the sustainability of evaporative cooling.
Rochester, MN, September 15, 2015 -- LiquidCool Solutions, Inc. (LCS) announced today that CEO Herb Zien will serve on a panel and present at North America's Emerging Green Conference to be held September 21 -- 24 at The Nines Hotel in Portland, Oregon. The Emerging Green Conference has pulled a roundup of technology leaders to discuss the advances, challenges and future of sustainable electronics.

On Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 1:30 -- 3:00 PM local time, Zien will join the Greener Cloud panel, titled “Strategies for Greener Data Centers and Cloud.” Zien plans to take a controversial stance as he demonstrates inefficiencies and environmental waste associated with cooling by evaporating water.

Cooling data Relevant Products/Services centers by evaporating water is the technology du jour used by Microsoft Relevant Products/Services, Google, Facebook and others. Using a Facebook data center in Iowa as an example, Zien will explain why this approach is not sustainable and the practical benefits of liquid cooling.

Within the context of his presentation, Zien also will talk about factors all data center designers should consider, such as real estate and building height, energy consumption and floor space, water requirements, maintenance and server reliability and noise.

Zien has 30+ years of experience in project development, engineering management, power generation and energy conservation. He has been responsible for the development of numerous steam and power production projects, as well as the purchase and sale of energy-related businesses.

LCS has been recognized as a “Cool Vendor” in Gartner Relevant Products/Services’s 2014 Cool Vendors in Data Center Infrastructure Management, Power and Cooling report and received the North America Customer Value Enhancement Award in Data Center Cooling from Frost and Sullivan.
