Amazon’s listing has been working in our favor as it has helped us find out that Apple has redesigned the Mac mini after the M4 iMac announcement. The first impression is how small the machine appears to be than its other predecessors; this is something that was mentioned in the previous report. This makes it easier to carry as Mac minis are used to connect to large display screens and other peripheral devices.
This Mac mini has a total of 64 GB of unified RAM and by the time we could find more specifications of the device, the listing was removed from Amazon. The Mac mini has a form factor of 5X5 inch dimensions making it even smaller than its previous edition.
Apple offers the Mac mini in two variants, namely, M4 and M4 Pro chipset. This is said to be released on October 24, yesterday. The M4 Pro features the world’s fastest CPU core with fast and single-threaded performance. It supports up to 14 CPU cores, that is, ten performance cores and four efficiency cores.
With up to 20 cores, the M4 Pro GPU is up to twice as powerful as the GPU in the M4 offering better performance. Both chips bring hardware-accelerated ray which taxes the Mac mini. M4 has the ability to support 273GB/s memory-bandwidth, twice as any AI PC chip for accelerating AI workloads.
Both these Mac minis are the first carbon-neutral devices to ever be released. It is made with more than 50 percent recycled content. The enclosure of the device is made of aluminum which is 100 percent recycled. In all the Apple-designed printed circuit boards, the company has used 100 percent recycled gold plating and recycled rare earth elements in all magnets.
The electricity used to manufacture the Mac mini is also sourced from fully renewable electricity.
The M4 Mac mini features three Thunderbolt four ports and the M4 Pro features five Thunderbolt ports. Other connectivity ports include Gigabit Ethernet which is configurable up to 10 GB Ethernet for faster networking speeds. These Mac minis also have HDMI ports for easy connection to a TV or HDMI display without an adapter.
It could also support up to two 6K displays and up to one 5K display in the M4 Mac Mini. the M4 Pro could support even three 6K displays at 60 HZ for a total of over 60 million pixels.
The pricing of both is as expected, but expensive. It starts at $599 and could go up to $1,399 for the Pro version; users could ask for the option to double the RAM. The updates will be available at an extra cost based on the CPu-core being installed.
The M4 Mac mini starts shipping on November 2024 and the Mac mini M4 will start shipping on November 1, 2024. The previous releases of the Mac mini were back in January 2023 when they launched the M2 and M2 Pro Mac minis. The M1 Mac mini was released in November 2020. By this, we could assume that Apple is on a two-year cycle for the Mac Minis.
