Apple Maps' Look Around Feature Launches On The Web

Apple’s Look Around Feature was long available on iOS but recently Apple made this feature available in public beta. This feature now allows non-Apple users to access Maps directly from their browser. By launching this feature on the Web, Apple made it convenient to get driving and walking directions or useful information. Both Apple and non-Apple users find this web version very beneficial as it enhances accessibility and compatibility.

The Look Around feature is Apple has been known to provide an interactive 360° street-level panorama and the launch of the web version makes it more convenient, especially for non-Apple users. Users can now access Apple Maps directly from their browser without installing the app. The best part is that it is compatible with Safari and Chrome on Mac and iPad and on Android devices, it is accessible on Chrome and Edge on Windows PCs.

The introduction of this feature increases convenience as users can now get quick directions, find places, or other information without having to go through the hustle or depend on the app. Apple Maps has been known for its best route planning, privacy, real-time traffic updates, and flyover 3D mode. Now, all these benefits can be accessed by non-Apple users, too.

Users can now easily get driving and walking directions along with useful information regarding a place, its hours, photos, ratings, and reviews. This feature also lets users take actions such as ordering food directly from the Maps place card and exploring cities around the world. Even the developers using MapKit JS can now link Maps on the web to get easy directions and detailed information about a place.

This new Maps on the Web is currently available in English and in selected cities like the U.K., Australia, the U.S., Canada, the European Union, and a few other countries. This will support additional languages, browsers, and other platforms over time with its new launch. The Apple Map on the Web feature competes with Google Maps because of its advanced features and convenience.

Apple launched a beta version of Apple Maps on the web but it was quite limited at launch. However, around December 11, Apple came up with the Look Around feature, which is more advanced and lets users check the coverage of the main map platforms. The Look Around feature is Apple’s version of Street View that can be accessed by clicking the binoculars icon on Apple Maps, which provides users with a high-resolution ground-level view of restaurants, landmarks, streets, retail locations, and more.

Once you click and drag on the map, you will be able to different first-person perspectives in many cities, which makes it easy to understand more about a place. Even though the Apple Maps web beta was available long before, it had certain limitations but this Look Around feature provides a smoother experience in getting directions and information regarding a place.

The Street View in Look Around feature allows users to literally look around and explore cities where it is available, virtually fly across roads, and see places with a 360-degree view. Apple promises to bring more features in the upcoming month to make it more accessible and advanced. This feature is currently available in limited areas but over time, it will be available worldwide. Apple also plans to add smaller cities and rural areas, making it more convenient for users to find and explore places.

Apple Look Around works just like Google Maps but in a more advanced and better way by offering different views of a place. Users seem hyped about this web version feature as it acts as an alternative to Google Maps and does not need an app to work. Also, its compatibility is another factor users find impressive. The Look Around feature is compatible with Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox on iPads, Macs, and Windows PCs.
