Apple Music Empowers Artists With New Set List-Playlist Feature

Apple Music's Set List feature

Music lovers who get excited and obsessed with attending concerts would probably know the enhanced effect a good set list can bring. Live concerts and music tours are something that fans of artists look forward to and cherish a lot. Apple Music understood this possibility and introduced a new setlist feature into the app on Thursday 17 October.

Competition arises between music apps and each one is finding listener’s tastes and bringing new updations to increase user experience and hearing hours. The latest update on Apple Music is also set to bring a different experience to the users and a way to promote artists and new releases.

Set List is the order of songs a musician plays at a concert and Apple Music’s new Set List feature connects artists with their fans. The artists can share their playlists in order of the concert and even have the option to schedule a time as if in a live concert.

The new feature is like a promotional tool for the artists to bring their list of songs to the fans. These can be songs from a show, the playlist from an entire tour, or a residency. It is like bringing a playlist created by the artist themself to the fans and music lovers.

For artists to use this feature, they need to upload their artist image to Apple Music. This will be the cover art for the Set List. Artist image helps listeners locate an Artist’s Page more easily. The set artist image will be automatically uploaded to Shazam and Apple Music.

Set List can be connected with Bandsintown, the website and app that shows and notifies concerts and live music shows, to increase promotions. Updating the Bandsintown account of an artist makes creating a Set List easier. The dates of shows and concerts can be linked to Shazam, Spotlight Search, and Apple Maps to promote the artists’ events and easier creation of a Set List on the Artist Page of Apple Music.

The Set Lists can be viewed on Artist Content. Creating a Set List on Apple Music is easier as they will be automatically listed while connecting the Brandintown account with Shazam and Apple Music. You can find all the upcoming events and scheduled concert dates on Set List. If the Artist Page is not linked to Bandsintown, then the playlist, dates, and location should be entered manually.

Artists can set a date for the Set List to be published on Apple Music. This can be set for the next day or days further than that. The playlist will be published at the local time of the artist’s location. Featured songs in the concert by other artists can also be included on the Set List.

The created Set List can be promoted through social media. A Set List can be published before the concert as a way of announcing the concert or on the same day to connect virtually or later to reconnect with the past concert experience.

Multiple Set Lists can be created for various shows and events. Each of these will be displayed on the Apple Music Artist Page and Shazam Concert Page by popularity among listeners. Set Lists can also be accessed from Spotlight Search on iOS.

Apple Music had previously featured Set Lists of popular artists from last year onwards, but the new updates let the artists set their own Set Lists and any popular or non-popular artists can use this feature. The playlists that are managed by Apple Music cannot be edited, whereas artist-created playlists can be deleted or archived on the artist page.
