Galaxy AI to Support 20 Languages Soon: Expanding Global Communication Capabilities

By Mark McDonnell

Galaxy AI will support 20 languages soon

Samsung announced an expansion of Galaxy AI languages. In addition to the 16 languages, the company added four new languages to its AI system: Dutch, Turkish, Swedish, and Romanian. The existing supporting languages will also get an additional dialect in Chinese and Portuguese (Europe). The new update will come into effect by the end of the year 2024.

Samsung’s suite of AI features, Galaxy AI, was widely accepted when launched earlier this year. However, the new Apple Intelligence and Gemini overshadowed it later. To regain popularity and exploit the advancements in AI, Samsung plans an expansion of the Galaxy AI languages.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI already supports 16 languages including Chinese, Arabic, English (India, United States, United Kingdom), French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Japanese,  and Vietnamese.

The new set of languages, Dutch, Turkish, Swedish, and Romanian, will make a total of 20 by the year’s end.

With this expansion, access to Galaxy AI will reach to extended population who are limited by language barriers. ‘AI for all’ is a long-standing aim of Samsung, and with the language expansion, the company is heading one step closer to its ambition.

The improved features may help the company regain the loss in sales. However, Gemini, the competent AI offers 40 languages, which is double the language supported by Google AI.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI features are available in the selected phones and tablets with one UI 6.1.1 update. The Galaxy AI features will be available for free until the end of 2025.

The new languages and dialects will be available for download from the Settings app of the compatible devices as language packages.
