Galaxy Ring 2

With the overwhelming responses to their first Galaxy Ring launched earlier this year Samsung is already smithing its second generation Galaxy Ring and is expecting a launch by 2025. The new wearable is expected to have health-centric features and a resizable design.

Samsung experimentally launched the fitness tracking ring, Samsung Galaxy Ring in July 2024 and was a big hit. The company is planning to launch its successor, Galaxy Ring 2 with improvised features by next year. According to reports, the company has patented a design that could allow the new Galaxy Ring 2 to fit in every finger irrespective of the size.

Wearing a watch is easy you can adjust the strap easily, but wearing a ring with a single size is difficult, not only to handle but also to function well. With the new Galaxy Ring 2 Samsung aims a single ring for all. It eliminates the dependence on a sizing kit to find the best size. The resizing structure of the new ring makes it able to adjust with the finger size automatically. The design incorporates an elastic material inside the product, allowing flexibility.

Apart from Samsung, the Chinese mobile company Xiaomi also made a patent with similar properties, ie an elastic material to adjust the size of the smart ring. This act indicates a future where people buy smart rings as common as smartphones. However, there is no guarantee the designed plan will ever come into the limelight.

A smart ring acts as a fitness tracker offering ways to track health matrices including heart rate, blood, oxygen, temperature, sleep pattern, and activity levels. Samsung’s first-generation ring, Galaxy Ring analyses wellness habits, quality of sleep, etc, to build a wellness plan with the help of Galaxy AI. It also tracks the menstrual cycle by evaluating the skin temperature.

The innovative double pinch feature allows you to turn off the phone alarms when they are out of reach. In addition, it controls the camera to capture images by a gesture of fingers. The Galaxy ring comes in 9 different sizes (however the 2nd generation to follow a single adjustable size for all). The ring is priced at $399.

Despite the existing, additional features from the first-generation ring, the Galaxy Ring 2 launch may shake the tech industry. However, the price can be higher compared to the base model.

Samsung Galaxy Ring 2: Expected Features

According to Samsung’s patent, the upcoming Galaxy ring to showcase any of the two designs described below.

Different from the circular design in the first generation model, the Galaxy Ring 2 is expected to have a straightened-out top resembling a thick signet ring.

According to the second design, the new version may have two displays, acting as the ring’s outshell. The first display would allow to click icons, whereas the second display showcases the relevant information.

With the new Galaxy Ring 2, Samsung plans for a ring for all with same size. The elastic feature of the ring helps to fit on every finger eliminating the need for different size variances.

It could have sensors to detect things like galvanic skin response, which measures the electric charge to determine the level of stress and excitement. It may also comprise a fingerprint sensor. It can include features like SPO2, PPG, ECG, workout measurement, and temperature measurement which are already present in Galaxy Ring.

If the 2-display design is adopted, the battery life can be lower than the earlier version, which has 6 to 7 days battery life. If the signet design is utilized it could allow a higher battery life.

With the forecasted features and comparing the price of Galaxy Ring, the new version expects a higher price range. It can be anywhere from $399 to $449 excluding subscription.
