Google is adding a premium membership program to commercialize the popular Google Developer Program launched earlier this year in June at the 2024 I/O event. The Developer Program has already been signed up by millions as per Google’s report, and the company is introducing a paid tier program starting from Monday, 25 November. Joining the Developer Program is free and open to any developers worldwide the first step is to create an account and if the user already has a developer profile in Google, There is no need to create an account. The profile needs to be up to date and should also include the topics and products of interest. The development program can be used to analyze work done and the progress made, earn certifications and badges to show the potential of developers, and share achievements. To get the premium membership developers need to sign in to the Premium plan offered.
Key features of the Premium Developer Program
The Google Developer Program was launched to promote developers to “build, learn, and grow” providing access to tools like AI developer assistance, Project IDX workspaces, cloud learning credits, and more, which was free of cost. The paid tier of the Google Developer Program has several features including one-on-one consultations with Google Cloud experts and access to e-learning programs in Google Cloud Skills Boost. With the premium membership, Google provides customized services that help developers progress in learning and building careers.
Premium membership developers can enjoy $500 annual Google Cloud credits to make use of and become familiar with a wide range of Google Cloud resources and services like Gemini Code Assist, Firebase, and Vertex AI. Key features of the Standard Developer Program
The Development Program Standard Membership offers Google’s AI assistant Gemini in developer documentation and tools that use artificial intelligence (AI) chat to get helpful documentation, sample code, and learning content. An AI companion feature in Android Studio and IDX that can assist in generating code, and eradicating errors that can help in building high-quality apps faster.
The standard membership unlocks an additional three IDX workspaces for development. The program also offers free credits to members of Cloud Innovators for premium Cloud Learning every month with 35 credits per month. Saving the progress of the developers on learning materials and creating custom collections across Android, Cloud, and Firebase, with more than thirty other Google Developer products is another feature. More than 700 badges can be earned from events and various developer achievements.
