Google’s AI overviews are helping everyone, making it easier to collect information from different sites about the same topic. This, in turn, is like a sneak peek at the sites where the articles are being posted as it gives more clicks to that website via this overview. The overview cites where the sentences are taken from on the right side of the page in desktops or in mobile phones, the sites will be jotted down below.
This opens up opportunities for publishers, businesses, and creators. Google’s AI Overview was first launched in May 2024 and it was expanded beyond the U.S.; the reviews about this feature received a lot of positive feedback urging the need to expand it to other countries. People commented on how they preferred using Search with AI and found their results more helpful.
From this week on, Google has decided to launch its AI Overviews to more than a hundred countries and territories around the world. With this expansion, AI Overviews will have over one billion global users every month says reports.
One update along with the expansion of AI overviews is the language support. The currently supported languages in AI Overviews are Japanese, Hindi, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The results will be available in these languages when users search for them in the language preferred.
Google’s AI also tags the related articles below the overview which helps the other creators a boost to get more clicks indirectly. This is one of the central goals of AI Overviews in Search as well. More prominent ways to show links to relevant websites were also introduced within the text of AI overviews. These sites will be accessible by clicking on the site icons in the upper right.
Earlier this month, Google also launched in-line links that directly appear within the text. These updates were shown to have increased traffic to the supporting websites compared to the initial designs in Search. This does not stop ads from appearing in the allotted column inside the website after a user clicks on it. The text that was quoted in the AI overview will appear highlighted which will make the user spend time on the article for sure.
New ways are also introduced with the AI overviews now. You could search via your Google lens for a particular flower or anything related and AI Overviews are available for it. Along with searching using the Lens, if the user presses and holds the search button after cropping the image searched if necessary, they could voice search the query with the image, and an AI Overview will pop up.
AI-organized page results have been proven more helpful and these results have brought up more diverse content formats and sites which, in turn, creates more opportunities for content to be discovered. All in all, along with helping users search better, AI Overviews have also increased the possibilities for new business owners and creators to have more engagement. With further updates, Google has indeed created a trademark with AI and it is not going away any time soon.
