HONOR Launches MagicOS 9.0

HONOR has unveiled the much-awaited MagicOS 9.0 update for its devices based on Android 15. The new OS release emphasizes AI-driven tools, multiplatform connectivity, and enhanced security. The new update will be rolled out by November having the beta version already been released.

HONOR has finally released the MagicOS 9.0 operating system at the MagicOS press and developer conference in China. The November scheduled update comes with a focus on AI features, whose public beta is already available. According to the company’s claims, the new MagicOS 9.0 update will be the industry’s first scenario personalized operating system.

Featuring a leveraged LLM (Large Language Model) in the new OS HONOR is aiming at enhancing the device-level AI abilities. The MagicOS 9.0 update includes the company’s new proprietary MagicLM along with an upgraded YOYO AI assistance (YOYO is HONOR’s voice assistant used in China).

According to reports, the MagicOS 9.0 comes with a complete upgrade of the virtual assistant allowing converting commands into action or carrying out tasks theoretically by analyzing the user behaviour and history. It also brings upgrades to the Magic Portal and Magic Capsule for the HONOR’s devices.

Notably, the new OS has reduced power consumption by 80%. MagicOS 9.0 has resulted in a 70% increase in the loading speed and a 500% increase in the word output speed. The requirement for less memory is another advantage of using MagicOS 9.0 as it reduces the RAM and ROM usage by 1.69 GB and 1.8 GB respectively. The new OS uses three billion parameter LLM and will be compatible with HONOR’s mid-range and premium devices.

The latest software allows users to access text and images by circling them with the support of generative AI. The new detection feature incorporated in MagicOS 9.0 focuses on preventing deepfake images and thereby eliminating the associated scams with AI assistance.

The upgraded YOYO Assistant can understand user behavior and perceptions and assist users in making informed decisions. It analyzes the user’s history to execute user requests. The new update allows users to make long requests using a single command. The new OS also helps in the development of an enhanced AI ecosystem.
