iOS 18.2 Beta Code Leaks Apple Intelligence Features

Apple iOS 18 is one of the most discussed software products in the tech community. While Apple originally promised Apple Intelligence with the release of iOS 18, it was later pushed back to another update: iOS 18.1. The iOS 18.1 beta is now available for developers and select users who have pre-enrolled to the beta program.

Meanwhile, another exciting piece of news is circulating among the tech community and Apple fan forums that the Apple Intelligence features coming with the second update of the new iPhone operating system, iOS 18.2 is leaked. Keep reading if you are curious about the new Intelligence features embedded in iOS 18.2.

iOS 18.2 Beta Apple Intelligence Features Leaked

iOS 18.2 Beta Apple Intelligence Features Leaked

While Apple does a great job of keeping unreleased stuff under wraps and maintaining secrecy, it does not keep fans, spectators, and journalists from digging. As the release of the iOS 18.2 beta version is nearing, many well-connected tech wizards such as Mark Gurman and Aaron Perris have hinted at some of the new Apple Intelligence features you might see with the release of iOS 18.2 Beta.

We are talking about the two most anticipated Apple Intelligence features; “Siri with ChatGPT” and “Visual Intelligence”. According to the backend code references pointed out by some developers, both these features announced on the WWDC24 are likely released to the public on 18.2 Beta.

Siri with ChatGPT

Apple is partnering with OpenAI to allow users to use the generative capabilities of ChatGPT with Siri without switching between the tools. It is said that Siri will switch automatically depending on the type of command.

For more basic and direct conversations such as making calls, and opening an app, Siri will be operating, whereas ChatGPT will switch on for more complex conversations that involve more abstract concepts or more recent information. By integrating ChatGPT into Siri, Apple is aiming to make the conversations more natural and human-like.

Visual Intelligence

Visual Intelligence is the ArtificiaI Intelligence feature that will be integrated into the Apple camera app. It is supposed to bring the complete usage of the new camera control button on iPhone 16 to life. Similar to Google Lens, Visual Intelligence can scan what you see through the camera and identify the objects.

You can capture a photo of a plant and know what kind it is. Additionally, it can also detect texts, so you can scan the details of an event invitation and seamlessly integrate it into your calendar with ease.

The above-mentioned features are leaked from the backend code references. Additionally, you can also expect several other Apple Intelligence features including Image Playground, Genmoji, Priority Notifications, and more.

Image Playground

Image Playground is an image generation AI from Apple Intelligence. It can create three types of AI art: Animation, Illustration, and Sketch. Image Playground is available as a standalone application, where you can generate images when you needed.

It will be also integrated into the Messages and Mail applications. This will allow you to generate images when you need to send a visual representation of your idea to your friends or teammates.

Genmoji

Apple Intelligence is taking the emoji culture to the next level with Genmoji. This new feature likely released on iOS 18.2 will let the user generate their custom emoji from text descriptions. So, whatever emotion you need to get across to your partner, friends, or others you are chatting with, you can simply create a custom emoji with Genmoji and share it.

Mail App Redesign

While the mail app redesign is not associated with Apple Intelligence, it is important to mention that the new mail app can do some in-device AI-based personalization, to group the email into different categories.

The categories include primary, transactions, updates, and promotions. Additionally, the new mail app is also reported to have a “digest view”, where all the related emails from a business is chained together.

Priority Notifications

Notifications are currently stacked based on the time of arrival. But some notifications are more important than others. For example, a personal message from a loved one has more priority over a promotional coupon code from Domino’s. The Apple Intelligence-based priority notification feature can arrange your notifications in the order of priority, for better convenience.

iOS 18.2 Release Date

Unlike the original expectations, Apple did not release any Apple Intelligence features with the iPhone 16, or the iOS 18 update. However, Apple Intelligence is now available in the iOS 18.1 developer beta. iOS 18.1 beta is expected to arrive on eligible devices, on October 28th.

Although the actual release date of iOS 18.2 has not been published yet, it is safe to say that the beta version will be released to the general public after the release of iOS 18.1 beta, probably by the end of December.

We have come to this conclusion because that is how the beta versions of iOS have been released in the past. For example, iOS 17’s first beta was released on October 26, and the second version, iOS 17.1 beta on December 11th. That being said, these are just assumptions and speculations at this point. We should wait for Apple to announce a specific release date.

Conclusion

iOS 18.2 Beta backend code reveals that the version of iOS will have more Apple Intelligence features such as Visual Intelligence and Siri with ChatGPT. In this article, we have explored what these hints mean, and when can you expect the release of the iOS 18.2 beta. You can expect additional features such as Image Playground, Genmoji, and a new Mail app with iOS 18.2 beta release.

However, we might have to wait till the release to know the exact list of new features. The iOS 18.2 beta can be expected released in December after the release of the 18.1 beta on October 28th. We hope this article has covered everything you need to know about iOS 18.2 beta backend leaks. For more information and updates about things related to Apple, keep following us.
