Kamala Harris and Donald Trump Star in Eerie AI-Generated Trailer

A recent movie trailer posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, early this October featuring an AI-generated Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump with various other popular figures shows how far AI tools have reached in video editing and generation.

The far-fetching consequences of AI-generated images and videos have been a topic of discussion for some time now. However, the creative approach it can take using human imagination has no limits.

At a time when the election is around the corner, fake AI videos and images have already set everything ablaze. But this time, it is something to laugh about at the same time amazed by the fast-paced growth of AI. The video is like a trailer for a movie with opening credits featuring the actors and the characters appear to be French.

The AI parody La Baye Area, meaning The Bay Area, features famous personalities like Elon Musk, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Jack Dorsey, and many more. The video was shared by an X user named @trbdrk. The trailer is fun and some commented on Reddit that it is really amazing to see the fast-paced progress of AI, many appreciated the cinematography, and some even compared it to Wes Anderson’s movie.

Every aspect of the 1:03-minute video is top-notch. People even commented that the song selection, Italian singer Adriano Celentano’s song with nonsensical lyrics, is also on point. All the popular characters were given French variations of their names, which is hilarious. The overall comments posted on Reddit are positive about the creativity and growth of AI.

When the video starts playing, people are stuck for a moment when they see Elon Musk but later get awe-struck by the capabilities of AI tools. The video is created with AI tools like Midjourney 6, Runway Gen-3, and Udio.

Runway creates videos with natural language and image prompts. Midjourney also converts natural language prompts into images. Udio generates AI music. The concept can be created using Midjourney and then the image generated can be turned into a video with Runway and Udio can be used for furthering the cinematic effect. It is pretty clear that creating such a top-notch video is not as easy as simple image-generation AI tools and needs great patience and editing skills.

AI video generation has been around for some time now, but after watching La Baye Area, it is incredible to know that AI has developed a lot within a short time span. Creativity being expanded is always something to be proud of, but everything has a negative side too. If a fake parodical video in just 1 minute could get so much attention, the possibilities this tech can do in the future are unimaginable.

Elon Musk himself repeatedly warned about the dangers of Artificial Intelligence and ironically the first character to appear in the video is himself posted on the platform he owns. The video gets its scary appearance when thinking about the dangerous things this technology can bring. Being aware of the technological advancements that can be potentially dangerous can prevent a lot. For some time now spotting AI images and videos can be easier compared to their expected development in the future, which is not that long.

Small errors and glitches can be found when looked closely. Human features are unique and some facial features and body mannerisms cannot be copied even by AI. Until next-generation AI tools that can cope with these come into use, it is safe to say we can detect these artificially generated images and videos.
