Mozilla FireFox

Mozilla is one of the most technologically superior contributors to software development. It is a community that develops and publishes the products that ultimately aim to make the internet service accessible and open to everyone. Firefox web browser, Thunderbird email client, Gecko layout engine Bugzilla bug tracking system, etc are the major products of Mozilla.

Breaking news is spreading regarding the management decision of Mozilla that led to the termination of multiple employees in the company. According to various sources and reports, The Mozilla Foundation axe 30 percent of its workforce. After the termination of 30% of the employees, their non-profit advocacy and global programs divisions are no longer available. According to the Mozilla Foundation which is the parent organization of Mozilla Corporation, the mass termination and stoppage of advocacy and global programs is for the health of the internet.

The news was circulated via an internal email which disclosed the details of the new policy changes and structural rearrangements. Brandon Borrman confirmed that the company has decided to lay off 30% percent of its current team members. There is no clarification about the number of individuals who were affected by this.

Axe of 30% employees, what The Mozilla Foundation is up to?

Mozilla Foundation Terminates many Staffs Due To Structural Changes In The Company

Nabiha Syed, the executive director of Mozilla Foundation has announced this news via an internal mail. This news was later confirmed by Brandon Borrman who is the communications chief of Mozilla Foundation. According to the company’s view, this initiative is exclusively designed for the health of the internet. Mozilla consists of several organizations, and the combined work of these organizations is the sole reason for the unmatched success gained by the company. In that organizational structure, The Mozilla Foundation is a nonprofit organization of Mozilla. It is destined to oversee Mozilla’s governance structure and is responsible for creating the browser’s policies.

Mozilla is planning big for the future. They mainly focus on increasing the agility and impact to create a more open and equitable technical and technological future for all of its users. This is the reason for the discontinuation of advocacy and global programs and this further led to the termination of 30% of working personnel who had tirelessly worked for the enrichment of the company and its products.

Mozilla is aiming for a better future in the internet space. Their work is now advancing to focus on advocating for privacy, inclusion, and decentralization technologies. They are aiming to create safer and more transparent online servicing and browsing in the future.

Even though the advocacy division was stopped by the company, they claimed that advocacy would still be a central part of Mozilla Foundation’s work. They are on the verge of revisiting their approach to it and the restructuring of advocacy hasn’t ruled out yet.

Are Mozilla workers falling out recently?

Neither the company nor Brandon Borrman has come out and made a clarified statement about the total number of employees who were forced to go out because of this policy change of the company. He said it was about thirty percent of the total number of current members.

Falling out of employees and mass termination of employees is not a new thing for Mozilla. It is the second time in this year Mozilla has been implementing this layoff strategy. A total number of 60 employees were terminated in February by Mozilla Corporation. It was due to a part of the ‘ Strategic Correction’ plan implemented by the company. Now after eight months, Mozilla has once again brought this layoff strategy. It was 60 people before and now 30% of the current members are forced to stay away from the company and their work.
