Samsung October Security Update

Security is a major concern of Android users even though various brands bring the latest innovations in features and models now and then compared to iOS. Samsung being a brand powered by Android competing closely with the top brand Apple, brings the best out of technology and AI usage on its devices.

System updates are something that many users look up to as they improve the quality and capacity of even some of the older devices. The October security updates released by Samsung fix twelve flaws that are exclusive to Galaxy devices, thirty security flaws in the Android Operating System, and security fixes from Google. Two of the latest security flaws can cause memory corruption in Android OS and are said to be critical whereas the rest is of high risk.

The security updates started releasing on 5th October of this year spreading to various countries. These security updates majorly aim at securing the devices from attackers and unauthorized access to the device and personal data.

Samsung’s latest October announcement stated that many monthly security updates are available, and two major memory corruptions of Exynos, CVE-2024-33042, and CVE-2024-33052, have been updated. They have also mentioned seven years of monthly updates for Android OS, One UI, and security for selected devices including Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Google secures two critical and twenty-eight high-level faults and Samsung fixes twelve faults including system services, Knox, and Semiconductor boosts.

One of the issues addressed by Google was fixed in the earlier updates and two of the other are not applicable for Galaxy devices.

The updates started with the Galaxy S24 FE which is one of the latest models launched by Samsung, and the least costlier among the selected phones of the seven-year monthly updation. Some of the mid-range phones will receive a six-year monthly updation.

Galaxy AI is only available for high-end phones of Samsung till now, and the updates on One UI 6.1.1 will improve the AI features of its devices like suggested replies, live translations on third-party apps, PDF translations, built-in composer and interpreter, and many more.

For Galaxy S23 Ultra, the details provided by the company about the device other than the security advancements include and not limited to device stability and improvement, bug fixes, enhanced features, and improved performance. The software update holds the build number S918BXXS6CX14, One UI version is 6.1, the Android version is 14, and the size required is 447.20 MB.

The older releases of the Galaxy S22 series are also included in the security updation of October 2024. The initial releases were for the Galaxy S22 series that uses Exynos including Exynos 2200, but would enable the updation to the Snapdragon versions too.

Galaxy A13 4G can be updated with the latest security patches through One UI version A135FXXS9EXI2, a storage of 300 MB. This is one of the older versions of Samsung which is ahead of other flagship devices for the latest security update.

Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 also got an update and would soon be eligible for the next major One UI update towards the end of the year. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 One UI version is F731BXXS3DX19 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 is F946BXXS3DX19. There is also hope that all Galaxy devices will get One UI 7 Beta updation next year.

For Galaxy users to enable these updations, go to settings and then software update. Click on the download and install button. The device won’t be available for even an emergency call during the updation process but would get into a better version after the updation.
