Samsung announced its new One UI version at the annual developer meeting. The beta version is announced to be available for developers and the general public by this year’s end. So users and developers will soon be able to test the UI built on Android 15.

The Samsung One UI is known for its customization and seamless integration with various Samsung products. The release of the beta program has been pushed back to later this year, and it seems like the fans might have to wait till next year for the stable release. So, as the new iteration is up on the horizon, there is as much hype and anticipation around it as anyone may expect.

Anticipations leading to rumors and headlines, the tech community is looking for any leaks and updates from Samsung. This article is aimed at the users and developers who are eager to know what they can expect from the Samsung One UI 7.0 beta version.

Samsung One UI 7.0 Beta: Release Pushed Back

Samsung One UI 7.0

From the latest reports from Samsung, the release of the Samsung One UI 7.0 Beta program is pushed back to the end of 2024. However, the company hasn’t announced a release date yet. Fans and spectators speculate that this pushback might be because of some glaring bugs that might have been raised on the build.

Samsung has previous experience with beta versions that caused issues like battery drain, animation lag, overheating problems, and sluggish performance in some cases. While these issues were later fixed in the stable release, they wouldn’t want these same mistakes to happen again.

So, they might have done more rigorous internal alpha testing to find the most glaring bugs, to provide a smoother beta version. This can be crucial for sales, especially when Apple is expecting to release iOS 18.1 with AI features on October 28th this year.

However, some spectators also speculated that Samsung is adding some additional features to the new iteration of One UI after seeing the IOS 18 dropped on September 16 along with the iPhone 16. According to online discussions with Samsung’s official community, it is said that users can expect significant improvements in design, functionalities, camera UI, split notification panel, and support for satellite connectivity in the Samsung One UI 7.0.

Samsung One UI 7.0 Beta: Expected Features

Samsung One UI always has additional features and significant UI and design changes from the stock Android versions they are built on. The One UI 7.0 is no different, but this time, the smartphones and tablets from Samsung are expected to have a major makeover from previous years.

According to the official reveal at the Samsung developer summit, the new version of the UI that ran on Samsung Galaxy S24 had significant design changes on almost everything from the appearance of the app icons to the menu, settings app, and quick toggle.

There is a bigger focus on making the UI more suitable for single-handed uses, with buttons and options realigned to occupy the bottom half of the screen, which your thumb can easily access. For example, the app drawer now has the search bar on the bottom, whereas the primary control buttons of the camera app are now relocated to the bottom.

Meanwhile, we may have to wait for the beta version of Samsung One UI 7.0 to know the extent of new features they provide. However, according to some leaks, users may expect to see the below features and improvements:

  • Major design changes for stock apps
  • More lock screen widgets
  • The control area at the bottom of the lock screen
  • Split notification/shortcut bar
  • Interruptable app opening animations
  • Supports 5G SMS messages
  • New notification bar design and animations
  • New icons
  • New background interface
