Snoop Dogg and Ice Spice in Fortnite

As Fortnite announces its Chapter 2 release, which showcases a new OG Battle Royale Season, this season aims to mix creativity with connection with users by incorporating music into the game themes and other parts of the interface. This allows users to explore and enjoy good music rather than the tracks usually played during games.

This season collaborates with Snoop Dogg, Ice Spice, Eminem, and Juice WRLD. With the recent passing of Juice WRLD, this season is almost like paying tribute to the singer as he was one of Fortnite’s consistent players. Even his mom mentions that Fortnite was a platform where he used to express his connection with his friends and family and that, this was beyond just entertainment for him.

Other singers, Snoop Dogg, Ice Spice, and Eminem have concerts that will premiere each upcoming week of this month. As of today, shows of Snoop Dogg and Ice SPice are over. Snoop Dogg performed Who Am I, Gorgeous, and Drop It Like Its Hot and Ice Spice played “Princess Diana”.

This week’s episode is called Agency as the Dog Pound and features Snoop Dogg. In the game, the compound of the episode was inspired by Snoop Dogg’s own compound. Snoop insisted on this idea because he wanted a touch of his own world in the game. The compound shown in the game is a warehouse now.

Ice Spice mentioned to reporters that she is very excited to be a part of a game and describes it as exciting and thrilling. Both Snoop Dogg and Ice Spice delivered a striking performance over the last weekend. The event was conducted in Times Square. This event was also live-streamed in Fortnite to give players a captivating experience.

The battle royale has had plenty of concerts in recent years but this collaboration with Snoop and other singers is a sign that Fortnite is taking the integration of music with games seriously. Snoop in an interview said that by including his songs in the game, it is deeper than just adding some artist’s song as the name of the song or the artist would not be published. It is almost like a partnership rather than just a random collaboration.

The concerts conducted before this had been singular virtual concerts which makes this whole month of concerts by many different artists hit differently. One major change this season of Battle Royale is that the game changes slightly each week which will be themed by different artists. Snoop Dogg is the first artist to be featured, followed by Eminem, Ice Spice, and a virtual concert playing all the songs of the late Juice WRLD. In each artists’ week, the players get a special cel-shaded outfit. There was another update that showed a machine gun that spat Eminem’s lyrics of Thirteen during his week.

In the game, players could enlist the singers as their companions in the game making this season more exciting. Players could also play all the tracks by the singers as they drive around the island. Players could even buy the songs and tracks inside the game, wherein most tracks other than those of the artists’ are by Rock Band studio Harmonix. This opens up another opportunity for new and upcoming artists to showcase their tracks in the game. This is one of the other plans of Fortnite as well.
